This article is strictly for tournaments and how I will be looking to navigate large field or High Stakes tournaments. If you are looking for chalky picks, you are in the wrong place.
Attacking GPP with Paulie D – Sunday Fun day
Last main slate before the Allstar break and I’m sure everyone is looking to end the 1st half with a bang. Make sure you check lineups right before lock and as the games are starting throughout the slate. Expect to see a couple scratches and some weird lineups as the players not in the Allstar game look to start their one and only vacation of the season of the season a little early.
The good news is this slate is amazing for tournaments! What I mean by amazing is best slate of the year so far! Its 10 games, which if you have been listening to me this year, you’ll know it fits right into my favorite slate range of 7-11 games. There is no absolute stud pitcher, as not a single pitcher is over 10K on Fanduel. However literally 10-12 of these pitchers are in play and I doubt any get over 25% owned. Complimenting the pitching on this slate is another 10-12 offenses we can consider for stacks.
I love this type of slate because the ownership will be very spread out and the people who put in the time and the research can gain a solid advantage against the field. I would recommend playing double your normal GPP allotment and building 4-8 lineups and spreading them out evenly across multiple tournaments of various sizes. You want some small field and some large field tourneys today.
For example, if I build 5 teams tomorrow I would have each team entered in the Grand Slam, Rally, Squeeze, super sac fly, line drive and then throw each into 1 or 2 single entries and triple or quintuple ups. A deep cash could have a monster payout. Obviously scale this to your bank rolls accordingly, but the point is to balance equally your tournament distribution amongst 4 to 8 teams.
I will list my current favorite plays below, but this situation with the All-Star break will have me adjusting line ups right up to lock based on lineups and where I think ownership will land. I will be in WiseTake Premium Chat to help with any questions you guys have leading up to lock.
P – Tanaka, Darvish, Cahill, Nelson
C – Gattis, Chirinos, Ramos
1B – Duda, Smoak, Mancini
2B – Odor, Schoop, Harrison, Altuve
3B – Donaldson, Frazier, Freeman (Top Player on the Slate), Arenado
SS – Escobar, Valaika, Andrus, Correa
OF – Gardner, Springer, Bruce, Choo, Mazara, Trumbo, Blackmon, Melky Cabrera, Grossman
Top Stacks – Rangers, White Sox, Orioles, Mets, Houston
The main theme for today is upside. Take the players with the most upside that correlate well together and hope it all comes together. The rangers game has excellent weather conditions for run scoring and a pitcher that has a history of giving up multiple home runs per game. After that I like Coors and Houston.
Good Luck
