In this article I will write up the pitchers I am considering for GPPs. I typically only play one line-up and enter it into the amount of contests I want to play for the night, needless to say my player pool is very narrow.
To be clear I typically don’t make my final choice until moments before the games start. This is because I am always checking the WiseTake Pitching model to see what opposing line-up numbers look like. I do however have a short list of pitchers that I am interested in for the day and will be sharing that with you.
GPP Pitching Prospectus by CK013
Jacob DeGrom ($12,100 FD, $12,500 DK) – There is nothing sneaky about this one at all DeGrom is an elite level pitcher at an elite level premium. I always preach on the podcast that DeGrom’s home splits are just out right dominant. He’s got a 28.99% K-Rate and a .261 wOBA at home over the last two years and gets a match-up against the Phillies in Citi Field. I am not quiet sure I will play DeGrom in my lineup due to the limited salary I would have left for batters, but if you have some cheap stacks in mind or can build a stars and scrubs line-up your comfortable with, he’s definitely the top option without considering price.
Lance McCullers ($9,500 FD, $8,800 DK) – Lance McCullers is sporting a 29.86% K-Rate at home over the last two years and while his home wOBA is higher than DeGrom’s it is still a respectable .287. McCullers has nasty stuff and people still don’t like taking pitchers against Yankees. I will admit I typically don’t either however this is a good pitcher at a cheaper price against a team that (powerful or not) DOES strikeout. The Yankees are beat up right now and haven’t played well on the road. McCullers has great upside and is significantly cheaper than DeGrom especially on DraftKings.
Jacob Faria ($8,300 FD, $8,300 DK) – I must admit the rising high total does scare me a bit and wind is blowing out. Still, Faria has some big K upside in the small sample we have seen him. I expect him to give up a few runs in this park but also except to see some Ks. His price should allow you to pay up for the bats you need if McCullers and DeGrom are too restricting. This kid is young and has actually pitched better on the road, definitely not safe but remember this is a GPP article.
