In this article I will write up the pitchers I am considering for GPPs. I typically only play one line-up and enter it into the amount of contests I want to play for the night, needless to say my player pool is very narrow.

To be clear I typically don’t make my final choice until moments before the games start. This is because I am always checking the WiseTake Pitching model to see what opposing line-up numbers look like. I do however have a short list of pitchers that I am interested in for the day and will be sharing that with you.

Slate Notes: Not crazy about this pitching slate, but we got to make something work.

Aaron Nola ($8,300 FD, $8,800 DK) – I have said it over and over, I like this kid. This year he hasn’t been all that impressive but the pitching slate tonight isn’t exactly dominant and he draws a decent match-up. The Pirates don’t strikeout a ton, but they do have weak team wOBA and ISO numbers. The park obviously goes against him but its his home park and he’s got to learn how to pitch their if he wants to be successful in Philly long-term. He’s got a 9.85 K/9 at home over his last two years and his hard contact rates are down. To further his case despite playing in one of the worst pitching ball parks, he is in the one the lower totals of the night according to the line-makers in Vegas.

Ivan Nova ($8,300 FD, $8,600 DK) – Nova doesn’t have huge K upside but if he’s on he can certainly last a while. The Phillies line-up has some ugly numbers posting up on the pitching model and Nova is typically a guy that can keep the ball on the ground. Not sure about ceiling but seems to have a certain feeling on safety on a slate that seems unstable.

Jharel Cotton ($7,400 FD, $8,000 DK) – Cotton hasn’t been consistent but he draws a good match-up in a good park. His numbers are not great from any angle but they are not the worst either. Cotton’s K-upside is concerning but the home park and the fact the White Sox typically struggle against right-handed pitching definitely help his cause. He is super cheap on FanDuel and will get you access to bats you may need. He is certainly risky even given the match-up and park, but we have seen some good stuff from him in the past.
