In this article I will write up the pitchers I am considering for GPPs. I typically only play one main line-up and enter it into the amount of contests I want to play for the night, needless to say my player pool is very narrow.
To be clear I typically don’t make my final choice until moments before the games start. This is because I am always checking the WiseTake Pitching model to see what opposing line-up numbers look like. I do however have a short list of pitchers that I am interested in for the day and will be sharing that with you.
GPP Pitching Prospectus by CK013
Jacob deGrom – He’s not sneaky but he is good and has a great match-up. I normally preach about deGrom’s home and away splits but this match-up is certainly intriguing enough that I had to include him in here. I expect deGrom to do very well just don’t know about him from a point per dollar prospective.
James Paxton – I love Paxton tonight in GPPs tonight. The Red Sox are notorious for not striking out but their K rate is slightly higher against lefties and more importantly since the All-Star break they have been striking out a lot more (as Paulie 8Ds pointed out). Paxton also throws a lot of cutters and the Red Sox don’t profile very well against that pitch. I expect Paxton’s ownership be lower than it probably should be given his skill level.
Kevin Gausman – Yes you’re reading this right, I think the ole gas can is in play. The Rays offense hasn’t looked very good as of late, they are currently on a four game losing streak. The Rays strikeout a bunch and Gausman has the K upside despite his tendency to give up the long-ball. It’s a big park boost for Gausman and he happens to have decent BvP against them.
