NBA DFS Value Plays by FantasyBum

Finally, FanDuel has put the Celtic players in the right positions. Brown at SG and Tatum at SF. Now just waiting on them to put Randle at PF. Another 6 games slate with limited options over 10k, so won’t need too much value. Here are some options for each position.

(Note) – Lakers will be short handed tonight, so most of the players should good solid run. Also Thunder are not the same defensively. The Knicks are also short handed tonight due to injury and trade. Magic are also low on players.

This article will focus on value plays and today they will be under 6k using FanDuel pricing. These are the players I think have the best chance of hitting and/or exceeding value. Most of these plays will give you good value with upside to help in GPP’s. The plays are best used in addition to your favorite higher priced plays.

*Pricing and DvP are based off FanDuel, but can be used for most sites.

**Risk/Reward plays are best for GPP’s as a punt play. High upside at their price along with some risk.

Point Guards

JJ Barea ($4900)

The Mavericks and Warriors went head to head in January in a close game (125-123). These two teams seem to play well against each other. Barea is a cheaper way to get some exposure to this game and last time they met he had 13 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists. Also, Warriors have allowed close to 50 FP’s to opposing PG’s over the past two weeks.

Shelvin Mack ($4500)

Mack becomes an excellent play now that the Magic have traded away Elf. He was already playing well and should see an big bump in minutes.

I would be willing to take a chance on either Delon Wright or Fred VanVleet, since I don’t think this Knicks game stays close for too long without Porzingas and Kanter. Wright and VanVleet have both played very well over the past two games.

Risk/Reward Play

Trey Burks may be worth a flyer if you need to pay down at PG. Chance to see extra minutes with the depleted Knicks team.

Shooting Guards

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope ($4700)

The Thunder were one of the better teams defensively prior to losing Roberson. They moved from the 4th least FP’s (season) allowed to 21st over the past two weeks. Now with Clarkson traded the Lakers will be short a guard and KCP, Hart and Alex Caruso (who make a nice punt play now). Josh Hart and KCP should play over 30 minutes each.

Wesley Matthews ($5800)

Matthews has put up 20 or more FP’s in five straight games now with three of those games over 30. Plays well vs the Warriors. Increase in usage with Barnes out.

Risk/Reward Play

Alex Caruso should see extended minutes tonight against the Thunder who have struggled defensively as of late.

Small Forwards

Mario Hezonja ($5400)

Last game I prefered Simmons over Hezonja. Today it is the opposite. I think Hezonja has the better game. Jonathan Simmons is still a good play, but think Hezonja outscores him. No Elf, so both options are definitely viable.

Jason Tatum ($5400)

Tatum should benefit if Brown sits out. Usually plays close to 30 minutes a game. Good matchup tonight.

Risk/Reward Play

Taureen Prince has been up and down all year and does well in certain matchups.

Power Forwards

Kyle Kuzma ($4700)

The Lakers have traded away Nance, which opens up more minutes tonight for Kuzma. He is close to a lock at his current price for me as he should play over 20 minutes due to the Lakers being short handed tonight.

Dirk Nowitzki ($5300)

Solid floor and plays around 22-28 minutes, but should see the higher end against the Warriors. Dwight Powell is a good play as well with Harrison Barnes ruled out.

Risk/Reward Play

Ed Davis should do well vs the Hornets as they allow over 50 FP’s to opposing C’s and Davis plays somebody back up C. Risk, but offers 30 FP upside.

Centers

Marcin Gortat ($4500)

Gortat is a nice pivot off the chalk of Kyle O’quinn, who is a solid play, but may come in at 50% or more ownership. Played well last game against the Celtics with 11 points, 10 rebounds and a few peripheral stats. The Wizards may also need to play Gortat a bit more with Morris hurt.

Brook Lopez ($5300)

Lopez is another good pivot. Lakers will be short handed tonight, so Lopez will have to play. Had a good game vs the Thunder last game.

Kyle O’Quinn is definitely in a good spot and should do well, but he should also have very high ownership.

*Good Luck and Stay Cashing
