NBA DFS Value Plays by FantasyBum

Revenge narratives, teams low on players, 9 games and a ton of value on this slate. Blake Griffin, Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley, Jimmy Butler, Zach LaVine, Taj Gibson, Kyle Korver are all playing their former teams.

Note – Cavaliers may be limited on players and so may the Kings (due to injury). Both of these teams provide very good value.

This article will focus on value plays and today they will be under 6k using FanDuel pricing. These are the players I think have the best chance of hitting and/or exceeding value. Most of these plays will give you good value with upside to help in GPP’s. The plays are best used in addition to your favorite higher priced plays.

*Pricing and DvP are based off FanDuel, but can be used for most sites.

**Risk/Reward plays are best for GPP’s as a punt play. High upside at their price along with some risk.

Point Guards

Corey Joseph ($4900)

Joseph should crack the starting lineup again tonight with Collison still out. He played 35 minutes last game he started and could play at least 30 tonight. The Celtics are a good defensive team overall, but you can attack them with certain positions and PG is one of them. Over the past two weeks they have allowed around 48 FP’s to opposing PG’s (19th) and I can see both Joseph and Joe Young hitting value tonight.

Tyler Johnson ($4200)

TJ did not come through last game, but played 34 minutes and shot 1-7 and put up 15 FP’s. I think he is still too cheap to pass up on with the minutes he plays and if he connects on a few more shots can easily value.

Tyler Dorsey ($3600)

Dorsey has played well lately. 20+ minutes and 20+ FP’s in his last two. He should continue to see minutes with Belinelli out. Cavs allowed 52 FP’s over the last two, which is the worst on the slate.

Risk/Reward Plays

TJ McConnell is too cheap for this matchup and his upside. He can easily put up over 20 FP’s in 20 minutes. One of my favorite GPP PG’s due to low ownership, matchup/pace and upside. Embiid is questionable and if he sits out McConnell becomes close to a lock at his price.

Shooting Guards

Justin Holiday ($5300)

I can see a lot of the defensive attention going to stopping Zach LaVine giving Holiday more opportunities to score. He plays over 30 minutes a night and usually puts up around 25 FP’s.

**Garrett Temple ($4200)

The Kings traded away George Hill yesterday leaving the team limited on PG’s and De’Aaron Fox is a game-time-decision due to an ankle injury. Temple is also listed as a game-time-decision, so he would be in play only if we get word he is playing. He will most likely play PG and have to play solid minutes. Decent matchup and slight bump in pace. If Temple and Fox both miss then this opens up more minutes for Bogdan Bogdanovic, Buddy Hield and Justin Jackson (SF).

Risk/Reward Plays

Kyle Korver is just above min price, playing his old team who struggles defensively and oh yeah, the Cavs are limited on bodies.

Small Forwards

Royce O’Neale ($4000)

The Jazz traded away Joe Johnson and Rodney Hood, so this opens up some more minutes for O’Neale. He has been playing well as of late with 24 plus FP’s in three of his last four games. Good matchup and pace up game for O’Neale. My favorite value play due to the low price and high upside.

Robert Covington ($5700)

This game has the highest point total on the board today and is running at the fastest pace. The Pelicans are not good at defending the SF position and they allow a lot of FP’s in general. Could be a lot of good fantasy options from this game. Covington has been streaky, but this is a game where he can get a good amount of shots off and get some additional peripheral stats.

Cedi Osman ($3500)

Min price Cavs started vs a Hawks team that is allowing a ton of FP’s as of late.

Evan Turner ($3600)

Cheap option that usually starts against a bad Kings team. Good upside in this matchup.

Risk/Reward Plays

Justin Jackson is in play if Fox sits out and an even better play if Temple sits outs. Vince Carter is worth a look as well. close to 10x upside.

Power Forwards

Jeff Green ($3900)

The Cavs will be limited tonight due to all the trades they made and the new players not ready to go yet. Jeff Green should see well over 20 minutes tonight against a Hawks teams that struggles vs the PF allowing a 46.7 FP’s over the past two weeks (6th worst).  Uncle Jeff offers an excellent value tonight with an upside of over 30 FP’s, which I think it in play.

James Johnson ($4600)

The Heat will most likely be without Olynyk again tonight opening up more minutes for James Johnson and Bam Adebayo. Price is down under 5k and like this matchup. 40 FP upisde.

Risk/Reward Plays

Gorgui Dieng – Bulls run fast and don’t play much defense. They are also one of the worst teams defending the PF. Can see a big game from Dieng tonight.

Centers

Hassan Whiteside ($7600)

Whiteside is not 6k or under, but I think he is an excellent value tonight. Last two times he played he dropped 59.6 FP’s in 32 minutes and 41 FP’s in 25 minutes. I like to target the Bucks with Center as they have struggled defending the position. He should hit value even if he only plays 25 minutes, but with Olynyk out, he may be closer to 30, which increases his upside.

Tristan Thompson ($4700)

Thompson is definitely a viable play against a Hawks team that struggles defending the Center. Cavs may be low on bodies and he could easily see close to 30 minutes.

Risk/Reward Plays

Greg Monroe is too cheap for his upside. Played 20 minutes last night and if he plays 20 tonight against this Pacers team he could have an upside of 25-30 FP’s.

*Good Luck and Stay Cashing
