Happy Friday everyone as I mentioned before I love Friday slates because what else would you rather do than relax with the weekend upon us watching some baseball. We finally are back to having some large slates after a few days of split slates. Tonight, we get a massive 14-game slate with a ton of options.
Pitchers, Hot or Not w/ Cuse
Hot Pitchers
Chris Sale, Alex Wood, and Max Scherzer– I thought today instead of having one pitcher here that these three justified being grouped together for the sole purpose of all three being hot for months now. The toughest choice tonight will be which one to roster and I’m sure @PatioJoeRef and @PaulieDDDDDDDD will break that down later for you guys on in the articles and pre-lock podcast for Premium members.
Aaron Nola ($8,400-DK/$9,100-FD) – Nola did struggle a bit in his last outing against these same Brewers but he still managed to get that quality start and hit his value. In Nola’s last 5 starts he has been spectacular with an average score of (27-DK/48-FD). Nola should continue this streak if he can avoid the longball tonight in Philadelphia.
Alex Cobb ($7,900-DK/$8,100-FD) – Cobb has gone under the radar to me in the past 2-3 weeks. Until I looked at him this morning I really didn’t notice how well he has been pitching. In Cobb’s last 5 games he has 4 quality starts. If there’s one thing I don’t like about Cobb it’s that his strikeouts have been very low but in 3 of those games he faced teams that don’t strikeout much (Red Sox, Pirates, and Angels). Cobb will face a Rangers team that is coming off a series in Baltimore that they let a lot of DFS owners down. The conditions tonight in Tampa Bay favor pitchers so Cobb could be back here next week.
Cold Pitchers
Steven Matz ($7,100-DK/$7,700-FD) – Do we even need to discuss why Matz is listed here today? In his last two outings, he’s been putrid in averaging negative points on Draftkings and 7 points on Fanduel. There’s not much else to says besides Matz has been bad and will continue to be bad.
Marco Estrada ($5,700-DK/$7,300-FD) – Draftkings is just begging us to take Estrada today but I’d pass if he was only $4,000. For a guy that once was in the upper tier for pricing Estrada has fallen and for good reason. Estrada has one quality start in his last 8 starts and things will get worse as he faces a hungry Indians team that was stuck in pitcher friendly AT&T park earlier this week. Will the real Marco Estrada please stand up? We will find out tonight if he has anything left in the tank.
James Shields ($5,800-DK/$6,700-FD) – He we have another regular visit from Mr. Shields on the Not so hot list. I could go on for days about how bad Shields is but I’ll just make this simple. Shields has no value in the world of DFS and the only reason people still enjoy his pitching is so they can feast from the bats facing him. Tonight, Shields will face a KC team in very hot and humid weather so if he makes it out of the 3rd inning I’ll be shocked.
