Previously known as the GPP Pitching Prospectus, this article will now cover pitchers for both cash games and GPPs. I spend a majority of my day researching pitchers so I figured in addition to my thoughts on GPP flyers, why not list the guys I like in cash as well.
To be clear I typically don’t make my final choices until moments before the games start. This is because I am always checking the WiseTake Pitching model to see what opposing line-up numbers look like. I do however have a short list of pitchers that I am interested in for the day and will be sharing that with you.
The Pitching Prospectus w/ CK013
Slate Notes: Nine game slate, let’s get it!
Cash Games
Higher Cost Options –
- Yu Darvish – Another Dodger pitcher in cash. Darvish is a no brainer on FD under $11K but DraftKings will make you think about it at over $13K. Still, I think in cash you have to suck it up and pay for him. He did well in Arizona despite a high pitch count and I believe this will be his first start at home. Fading Darvish in cash could really cost you here against the White Sox.
- Marcus Stroman – Stroman and the Rays seems relatively safe. Stroman doesn’t have the K upside that Darvish has but he does get a boost from the strikeout heavy Rays. I still feel more safe with Darvish though I respect Stroman’s ground-ball rate and floor.
Cheaper Options –
- Jaime Garcia – Mets are striking out a ton against lefties and righties. He is super cheap on DK, great DK SP2 option for his price. Mets put out a terrible line-up even for them. Jaime can be paired well with Darvish in cash on DK.
- Charlie Morton – Morton’s priced fair on both sites. He carries upside and a solid ground-ball rate and the D-Backs have been great to target on the road. They strikeout in bunches so I expect Morton to secure a few strikeouts before giving up any runs. I like this spot on DK where you have to play two pitchers but on FanDuel I am going Darvish.
GPP
Higher Cost Options –
- Carlos Carrasco – We like Carrasco on the road and Salazar destroyed the Twins last night despite a poor history against them. This game carries big weather risk so his ownership will be extremely low but again we need to monitor weather and if you play em you need to be confident they will wait out the weather and get this game in.
- Yu Darvish – Big upside here from Darvish. He will be popular for sure but there are limited options with his upside and on FD he isn’t expensive enough to feel like you have to avoid him.
Cheaper Options –
- Carlos Rodon – Rodon has put up some big numbers since coming back from the DL and the Dodgers still haven’t shown me they can hit lefties, especially good ones. Rodon has the upside and the Dodgers have been striking out a good amount. Super cheap on both sites, and I like him on both sites.
- Charlie Morton – Again I like this spot for Morton. His price is fair and he carries upside against a strikeout heavy D-Backs team that has struggled on the road this year.
- Eduardo Rodriguez – Kid has upside and had a decent outing. Porcello did well keeping these Cardinals under control and E-Rod has a shot to do the same. I’m concerned about ceiling here for a FD play but on DK as an SP2 he’s certainly in play considering his price.
- Jaime Garcia – Wilmer Flores is out and the Mets have struggled against lefties as it is. The Mets are striking out at a high rate and now they are home in Citi Field which gives the pitchers a little boost here. On DraftKings he is crazy cheap and worth a look.
