The Pitching Prospectus w/ @CK_013 – 8.17.17

Previously known as the GPP Pitching Prospectus, this article will now cover pitchers for both cash games and GPPs. I spend a majority of my day researching pitchers so I figured in addition to my thoughts on GPP flyers, why not list the guys I like in cash as well.

To be clear I typically don’t make my final choices until moments before the games start. This is because I am always checking the WiseTake Pitching model to see what opposing line-up numbers look like. I do however have a short list of pitchers that I am interested in for the day and will be sharing that with you.

The Pitching Prospectus w/ CK013

Slate Notes: Small five game slate. I like the same pitchers in both formats but in a different order for some.

Cash Games

Higher Cost Options –

  1. Luis Severino – The Mets are striking out a bunch but the wind is blowing out a bit here so keep that in mind. Still he should get some strikeouts to secure a higher floor and he obviously already carries solid upside. He’s also a huge favorite against the Mets and Matz has been terrible so he should get a win.
  2. Jeff Samardjiza – Samardjiza has a great match-up against the Phillies at home in the best pitcher’s park in the game. The Phillies have been terrible and striking out a lot. He’s also priced very well on both sites and the total in this game is extremely low and the Giant’s money line is moving in the right direction.
  3. Aaron Nola – I like Nola but the Giants don’t strikeout a ton. He struggled a bit against the Angels (from a DFS perspective) and the Giants have that annoying type of offensive style. Nola should do ok in this park but without strikeouts his upside and floor seem limited in cash.

Cheaper  Options –

  1. Jhoulys Chacin – Chacin has played well at home and the Nationals offense isn’t as intimidating without Bryce Harper. The Nationals haven’t seemed too potent on offense lately and a park downgrade across the country doesn’t seem like a reasonable cure.

GPP

Higher Cost Options –

  1. Jeff Samardjiza – Again great price, great match-up and great park. He isn’t a huge favorite but he totals are low and the Phillies are striking out a lot lately.
  2. Luis Severino – On DraftKings he’s expensive from a point per dollar standpoint but still it’s a great spot against a Mets team that can’t stop striking out.

  1. Jhoulys Chacin – Love Chacin on DK today as an SP2.
