What’s up WiseTake? Patio Joe here to bring you your cash game article.
I am not going to boggle you down with statistic after statistic on why a play is good. I may give a sentence but that’s about it. I’ll break down each position with the best cash game plays. Each position will have a description of my general rule on how I select each player at that position.
What is a good cash game play? Well, to me, it is the safest to hit his value, the most optimal play at each position with price being considered. Next will be a value section. These will be players that I will be playing depending on where they are hitting in the line-up. I then will give you my MVP play of the day.
Finally, even the cash game guy gets that GPP itch. So I will bring you a small section named “ At Bat W/Audie.” Here I will break down just a few of my favorite team stacks. Nothing big.
Please give me feedback on what you like and what you would like to see more of. Be sure to follow me on twitter @patiojoeref
Straight Cash Homie by Patio Joe
WEATHER: Nothing too concerning at this moment but check twitter later in day.
PITCHERS: I generally pay up for the top pitcher on the slate, biggest favorite, etc.
Chris Sale-(FD 11.7, DK 12.9) Don’t over think it. Just lock him in.
Jeff Samardzija- (FD 8.3, DK 8.4) Only reason I have him listed is because you need two pitchers on DK for cash.
CATCHER: I generally pay down at catcher. $2,700 and below is my typical mark. I will list the best play, but please look at the value section for the catcher I like.
Gary Sanchez- (FD 3.7, DK 5.0) Holmberg is a lefty. Sanchez is a righty. Attack….
Yasmani Grandal-(FD 3.7, DK 4.0) Grandal hits rightys well.
FIRST BASE: I generally pay up for a first base. These days there are always high priced options in good spots. The most offensive production comes from first and third base.
Cody Bellinger- (FD 3.8, DK 5.5) Way too expensive on DK. But $3800 on FD against Nolasco? YES PLEASE!
Edwin Encarnacion- (FD 3.6, DK 4.7) E5 is hot. Hamels is coming off of DL. Could be on a pitch count. Bullpen is garbage. I like him.
Jose Abreu- (FD 3.4, DK 4.4) Abreu wOBA vs Lefty this season is .469 Montgomery is nothing special. Great spot.
SECOND BASE: I generally pay down for a player that is batting at the top of the order at $2,600 or less. Again, these are the top plays but scroll down for value plays.
Daniel Murphy- (FD 4.0, DK 5.2) Butler is gonna serve up some meatballs for Murphy tomorrow.
THIRD BASE: I generally pay up for a top play at third base. Along with first base. The most production comes from third base.
Justin Turner-(FD 3.8, DK 4.6) Turner is almost hitting .400. Has great reverse splits and Nolasco is garbage.
Matt Davidson-(DK only 3.9) Davidson is smoking hot right now facing a lefty.
Anthony Rendon-( FD 3.6, DK 4.7) I just want to attack Butler tomorrow.
SHORT STOP: I generally pay down at SS $2,800 or below is my mark, though it is line-up dependent so I will pay up at times.
Trea Turner- (FD 4.3, DK 5.3) Butler again. Turner has reverse splits. Hits righties better than lefties.
Corey Seager- (FD 3.8, DK 5.2) Nolasco 1.93 HR/9 against Lefty’s in 2017. Check status he could be out because of hamstring.
OUTFIELD: I generally will pay down for at least 1 OF position $2,500 or below, perhaps even two depending on the pitcher. I will however always try to pay up for at least one elite OF.
Avisail Garcia-(FD 3.2, DK 4.2) His Price, his match-up, .480 wOBA vs L this season. Montgomery is nothing special.
Aaron Judge- (FD 4.9, DK 5.6) Way too expensive on DK. On FD, You can fit in one high priced bat. Holmberg is the pitcher. Yeah, I know… who is he?
Carlos Gomez-(FD 3.8, DK 4.5.) Dude is smoking hot right now. Had another HR over the weekend. PLAY HOT PLAYERS.
Shin Soo Choo- (FD 3.6, DK 3.6) Great value on DK. Been red hot!!
Melky Cabrera-(FD3.2, DK 3.3) Another great value on DK. Good play of FD. Will be batting high in order in a plus match-up.
PATIO’S MVP PICK OF THE DAY: AVISAIL GARCIA
VALUE SECTION: The following players are the value plays of the day, which are players where price meets, where they are batting in the line-up. Players that can hit value easily because Their salary is so low. It is essential to have value players in your cash game line-up in order to be successful.
C- Wilson Contreras/ Miguel Montero- whichever is starting.
1B-NONE
2B- Chase Utley, Kelby Tomlinson, Allen Hansen.
3B- NONE
SS- Brandon Crawford, Wilmer Difo
OF- Mason Williams, Brian Goodwin.
Remember if a player who normally doesn’t bat high in the order does for some reason and his at a very low price. I will be considering him, So value may open up as the day moves on.
AT BAT W/AUDIE: GPP TEAM STACKS I LIKE FOR THE DAY
