UFC 222 Cyborg vs Kunitskaya

This card is crazy some fights are coin tosses and some fight should be one sided. The draft kings pricing is very interesting, so lineup builds are going to be challenging for the casual fan. I will have a different approach this week in my premium article and simplify the process of lineup building. Early Prelims

Jordan Johnson 2-0 in the UFC. Very decorated grappler with good cardio and solid striking.

Adam Milstead 1-0-1 in the UFC. Average striker that tends to be wild with his strikes and throws a lot of haymakers. He’s fighting at 205 after a bad loss at heavy weight to Curtis Blaydes.

 

#7 Bryan Caraway (21-8) $7700 +145 vs Cody Stamann (16-1) $8500 -165

Bryan Caraway 6-2 in the UFC. First fight in over a year. Aggressive come forward striker with decent grappling on the mat and will look for submission.

Cody Stamann 2-0 in the UFC. Solid grappler with aggressive takedowns which sets up with solid jabs. Cardio for days

 

Mike Pyle (27-13-1) $7300 +240 vs Zak Ottow (15-5) $8900 -280

Mike Pyle 10-8 1NC in the UFC. Long time veteran announced his retirement. This will be his last fight in the octagon. Decent striker with above average grappling and slick submission skills.

Zak Ottow 2-2 in the UFC. Athletic striker with average grappling and below average takedown defense.

 

FS1 Prelims

 

CB Dollaway (17-9) $7200 +125 vs Hector Lombard (34-8-1 2NC) $9000 -145

CB Dollaway 8-5 in the UFC. Well rounded fighter tends to get hit a lot. Decent grappler with average striking and seems to be tentative, He’s susceptible to getting submitted.

Hector Lombard 3-6 1NC UFC debut. Solid striker with aggressive come forward pressure. Tends to gas as the fight goes. When hit he tends to turtle up.

 

#8 John Dodson (20-9) $7800 +120 vs #10 Pedro Munhoz (15-2 1NC) $8400 -140  

John Dodson 8-4 in the UFC. Very frenetic striker. His speed seems to be slowing.

Pedro Munhoz 5-2 1NC in the UFC. Solid striker with decent power. Solid submission skills.

 

#12 Beneil Dariush (14-3-1) $9200 -380 vs Alexander Hernandez (8-1) $7000 +315

Beneil Dariush 8-5 in the UFC. Well rounded fighter with solid striking and good power.  Good grappling and does have recent cardio issues.

Alexander Hernandez is making his UFC debut. Taking this fight on short notice. Decent grappler with decent striking.

 

Ashley Yoder (5-3) $7200 +315 vs Mackenzie Dern (5-0) $9000 -380

Ashley Yoder 0-2 in the UFC. Decent grappling with average striking. Not very good head movement and keeps her head on the center line.

Mackenzie Dern making her UFC debut. Solid grappling with high level Jiu Jitsu. Improved striking with come forward pressure. Strong clinch game and dirty boxing in the clinch.

Cat Zingano 3-2 in the UFC. First fight in over a year. Solid power in her strikes with very strong takedowns in top control. She has vicious ground and pound.

Ketlen Vieira 3-0 in the UFC. Strong grappler with slick submission skills. Decent striker with solid power and utilizes her judo to take down her opponents.

 

#10 Stefan Struve (32-9) $8800 -185 vs #12 Andre Arlovski (26-15 1NC) $7400 +160

Stefan Struve 12-7 in the UFC. Solid striker with heavy knees and front kicks. Solid ground game has been chinny.

Andre Arlovski 15-9 in the UFC. Solid striker with good grappling. Last few fights he’s appeared to be evolving his fight strategy. Cardio looked better and does have a suspect chin.

 

Main Card

 

Sean O’Malley (9-0) $8000 +120 vs Andre Soukhamthath (12-5) $8200 -140

Sean O’Malley 2-0 in the UFC. Flashy striker and good counter puncher. He tends to get hit but finds a way to fight through adversity.

Andre Soukhamthath 1-2 in the UFC. Solid technical striker with strong power in his strikes. Solid takedown defense with good cardio.

 

#2 Frankie Edgar (21-5-1) $8700 -170 vs #3 Brian Ortega (13-0 1NC) $7500 +150

Frankie Edgar 16-5-1 in the UFC. Former champion is a tough matchup for anyone. Solid grappling with strong striking. Insane ground and pound, very patient and his experience

Brian Ortega 5-0 1NC in the UFC. King of the comeback. Very dangerous Jiu Jitsu. Durable, solid cardio and decent striker with a solid jab and uses his kicks well.

 

[C] Cris Cyborg (19-1 1NC) $9700 -1700 vs Yana Kunitskaya (10-3 1NC) $6500 +1100

Cris Cyborg 4-0 in the UFC. Aggressive all-around fighter. Has the advantage in striking, cardio, grappling and arguably the best woman’s champion of all time.

Yana Kunitskaya making her UFC debut. Solid striker with straight punches and kicks. Will push her opponents to the cage and try to grind out the rounds.
